Using Tools
While you are working in Google Documents there are tools to help you write your document. Learning to use these tools can enhance your writing experience and help you to produce a fine piece of writing.
Spell CheckThe spell check tool allows you to have your spelling checked by Google Documents. This is a useful tool but it is not perfect. Sometimes Google Documents will miss a spelling error, especially if you spell a word correctly but use it in the wrong place of your sentence. This is how you use the spell check tool:
1. Find the word "Tools" at the top of your screen. 2. Click on the word "Tools" and a box will drop down. (See the example to the right.) 3. Click on the word "Spelling..." and Google will check the spelling in your document. 4. If you have spelled something wrong, a spell check box will pop up in the top right hand corner. (See the example to the right.)
5. Choose the suggestion you agree with by clicking on the suggestion and click the "Change" button. 6. Sometimes spell check will mistake a name as a wrong spelling. If that happens, click the "Ignore" button. |
Undo Button |
The undo tool allows you to automatically reverse a change that you just made to your document, like typing or changing the font. In order to use this tool, follow the directions below.
1. Find the "undo" button in the top left corner of the screen. (See the example on the right.) 2. Click on the "undo" button and your latest change will be automatically reversed. 3. If you decide that you didn't want to undo your changes, click on the "redo" button (see the example on the right), next to the "undo" button, and your changes will automatically return. |
